Two factors which constitute a limit to economic growth are pollution and the depletion of renewable resources
On the first hand, pollution and harmful gas emissions coming from the combustion of fossil fuels in industries, are increasing the incidence of the so-called greenhouse effect and causing the global warming and a global climate change. Therefore, even though such industries bring economic growth a limit has to be set, by economic and political authorities, for the planet's sake.
On the other hand, those sources of energy coming from fossils are limited, and they have been used for decades at a very fast pace. Therefore, alternative sources of energy need to be sought for because those, not only are destroying the planet, but we are about to run out of them. If there are no energy resources available it is imposible that countries continue growing at the same rhythm, because manufacturing activities could not be conducted.
