So you have your y value which is 5. Plug it in to the equation. You get 5=2x-1. Now you wanna solve for x so you want to get x=
Move the 1 to the other side and it becomes the opposite so it’s positive one instead of negative. Now you get 6=2x. You want to get x by itself and since 2x is the same as 2 times x, you want to do the opposite of multiplication and divide. So divide both sides by 2 and you get 3=x.
