Read the paragraph and answer the question:

"One knot blue, two knots yellow, three knots red, four knots green... The Young boys chanted the pattern of the carpet they were weaving. Bony little fingers deftly drew the card down the thread; warp and weft... warp and weft... top to bottom, right and left... warp and weft and knot".

How does the writer use language to engage the reader? Explain techniques, how the writer uses each word/sentence, etc.

Respuesta :

Th reader makes the written piece more effective to the reader as it uses repetition, adjectives and writes in a poem-like style. A example of where repetition is used, would be where it says, 'One knot blue, two knots yellow, three knots red, four knots green...' This is catchy, and would maybe make the reader more engaged in the text as it changes every time, but only slightly, which could led tot the reader wanting to know whats going to happen next.

Also, a example of where the writer uses adjectives, would be where it says, 'Bony little fingers.' This may want to make the reader want to read on further, making them more engaged in the written piece, as it is descriptive and it makes the piece maybe make the reader thinks well, it says bony, which a lot of elders are, but then it says little, which makes them think of children, making them want to know what's going on.

It is written in a poem-like style as it says near the end of the extract, 'Warp and weft, warp and weft, top to bottom, right and left.' Making the reader read on further to get to the bottom of what the extract is about.

-Hope this helps! Xx
