Recall Elmer Trett, who in 1994 reached a speed of 103m/s on his motorcycle. Suppose trett drives off a horizontal ramp at this velocity and lands a horizontal distance of 40.0m away from the edge of the ramp. What is the height of ramp?

Respuesta :

Speed of the motor cycle is given as

[tex]v_x = 103 m/s[/tex]

distance that he moved off from the ramp is given as

[tex]x = 40 m[/tex]

now we know that

[tex]x = v_x * t[/tex]

[tex]40 = 103* t[/tex]

[tex]t = 0.39 s[/tex]

now we can use this to find the height

[tex]h = v_i*t + \frac{1}{2}gt^2[/tex]

[tex]h = 0 + \frac{1}{2}*9.8*0.39^2[/tex]

[tex]h = 0.74 m[/tex]

so its height will be 75 cm from ground
