What transformation takes the graph of f(x)=2x+3 to the graph of g(x)=2x+4 ?

A. translation 1 unit down
B. translation 1 unit up
C. translation 1 unit left
D. translation 1 unit right
Also... please explain your answer :)

Respuesta :

The original function f(x) = 2x+3.

And the transformed function is g(x) = 2x+4.

We can see that if we add 1 into function f(x), we get

f(x) +1 or 2x+3+1 = 2x+4.

So, 1 is being added in original function f(x)  and we get g function g(x) = 2x+4.

According to rules of transformations, when we add some number k in the given function, it move k units up and if we subtract k from given function, it move k units down.

Therefore, correct option is B option.

B. translation 1 unit up.

Answer:

Basically, the answer is B
