The y-intercept is a point on the y-axis.
x=0 at every point on the y-axis.
So if you set x=0 in the equation, it'll tell you the y-intercept.

                           y = -3(0) + 12

                           y = 12 .


The x-intercept is a point on the x-axis.
y=0 at every point on the x-axis.
So if you set y=0 in the equation, it'll tell you the x-intercept.

                           0 = -3x + 12

                         3x  =  12

                           x  =  4 .
