Ibn-i-Khaldun was the great historian and economist of medieval period. In his book Mukadimmah, under the title of "Transport of goods by merchants" he advised the merchants to trade in general goods, needed by both rich and poor and thus yield large buyers and make most money. He also advised them to trade in dangerous areas where there would be less sellers and more demand of goods.
