The Great Awakening is defined as a religious revival that promised the grace of God to all who could experience a desire for it. It expanded all across America during the 1940's and it unified the colonies.
This event is also referred as the Evangelical Revival and marked the emergence of the Anglo-American evangelicalism within the protestant churches.
According to evangelical preachers, everyone should be included in conversion, regardless of gender, race and statuts. As a result, the revival movement increased the number of african slaves and free blacks who were exposed and later converted to Christianity.
