Hey there!!
Given equation :
... [tex]\frac{6}{14} =\frac{7}{x-3}[/tex]
Cross-multiplication :
... 6 ( x - 3 ) = 14 × 7
... 6x - 18 = 98
... 6x = 98 + 18
... 6x = 116
... x = 116 / 6
... x = 19.3
If the case is,
[tex]\frac{6}{14} = \frac{7}{x}-3[/tex]
Adding 3 on both sides :
... [tex]\frac{6}{14}+3 = \frac{7}{x}[/tex]
... [tex]\frac{48}{14}= \frac{7}{x}[/tex]
... [tex]48x = 17*4[/tex]
... [tex]48x = 68[/tex]
... [tex]x=\frac{68}{48}[/tex]
... [tex]x=\frac{32}{14}[/tex]
... [tex]x=\frac{16}{7}[/tex]
... [tex]x=2.28[/tex]
... [tex]x=2.3[/tex]
Hope my answer helps!!
