Respuesta :

  • 97% of all the water on the earth is salt water, which is not suitable for drinking.
  • Only 3% of all the water is fresh water, and only 1% is available for drinking.
  • 2% of the available freshwater sources is locked in ice caps and glaciers.

With growing population rates and such a small percentage of all the water on earth, it only makes sense that we must preserve and conserve this precious resource.

Although 75% of the Earth is covered in water, one reason we should still be concerned with conserving water is that not all of the water available is usable for our basic needs.

There are many reasons why it is good to conserve water, some include:

  • Many animals live in and depend on the water
  • Not all of the water on Earth can be used for our needs (Drinking water)
  • The Environment depends on water to survive,

among many other reasons. The one that most directly affects us humans is that not all of the water on Earth is drinkable.

Of the 3/4 of our planet that is covered in water, only 3% corresponds to freshwater.  The vast majority of water on earth is salt water, which humans cannot drink because the salt in that water will only dehydrate us more. Half of the 3% of the water that is drinkable by humans is frozen and cannot be accessed easily. This is why we should be worried about conserving water to survive.
