Historically, white Europeans are the ones who have benefited from the categorization of races. Through the use of slaves, they built the bases of their power, putting themselves in high social positions. Those who owned slaves could never have forged their riches and prosperity without the use of cheap labor, which is what was sought mainly through slavery.
This concept was based on a strong racist ideology, because those people who were enslaved were considered subhuman beings, almost like animals, without rights and in most cases it was sought to take advantage of their alleged physical resistance.
