The differences between the government of King Louis XVI and Napoleon are very big, in which ever way do we look at them, it is in general total contrast of one another.
King Louis XVI was ruling with absolute power, and he was mostly concerned about his own wealth and the people close and important to him, and leaving the majority of the population to leave in poverty and misery. Also, his relations with the church were not the best, and the unity in the country was on a very low level.
Napoleon, even though he also had an absolute power, he was doing the things in a totally different manner. He gave the opportunity to all children in the country to have free education, he invented nationalism and nation, thus making a strong nationalistic core in the country which lead to unification, returned the church as an influential institution in the country, and in general was mainly focused on improving the status of the peasants.
