The Northwest Coastal people wore robes embellished with furs and wool, richly painted to represent status, the position occupied in society. The more embellishment, the higher the position, that was shown by jewelry and headdresses. As a people whose wealth determined the ones who's retaining the power, showing the status was a very important issue.
