This is an anthology (a collection or compilation) of brief texts that describe events of the life of Chinese philosopher Confucius (551-479 BC) and record some of the conversations that he had with his contemporaries. It is still a very influential text in China and other Asian countries. The main topic of this book is morality.
The Analects is a collection of sayings and proverbs that are attributed to the Chinese philosopher Confucius. The main belief is that it was compiled by Confucius followers during the Warring States period (475–221 BC) until the the half of the period in which the Han Dinasty was ruling (206 BC–220 AD).
The Analects became the most widespread and read book in China during 2,000 years, and considered one of the Four Books. Its influence is present in Chinese and Eastern Asia values and ways of thinking even nowadays. Its main topic is morality.
