Gas has more energy than liquid and liquid has more energy than a solid . In order to determine what has the most energy it is important to also take into account the mass of something. For example a pot of boiling water has more energy than a pot of filled with ice water. However, a tub of ice water has more energy than a pot of boiling water because their is way more mass in the tub than in the pot.
