John's mother takes him to the doctor's office every year around his birthday. His height measured 36 inches. For the past 4 years his height has grown at the rate of 2 inches per year.

Using h=2y+36 as the equation, how many years will John's height measure 72 inches?

I think it will take him 18 years to reach 72 inches (if his height stays consecutive). I hope this helps :)
