The answer is Senate members represent state interests while House members represent district interests. When it comes to passing a bill, Senat approval comes first. Together they can form conference comittee to resolve any disputes or differences.

The legislature is made of the House of Representatives and the senate.  However, there is some fundamental difference between them.

Mainly, the House of Representatives represent the people’s interest. They are elected by the people to represent different districts. In the United States, each states has congressional district ably represented with a population of about 711,000. The house of representatives has a total 435 members representing different districts.  

The senate on the other hand, represents the interest of individuals, with 2 senators representing each state. A total of 102 senators are representing 50 states.

For a bill for become a law, it must pass through both chambers. Two-third of votes is required from the house of representative and the senate for a bill to become a federal law.  

Only the house is vested with the power to initiate impeachment proceeding. The senate cannot initiate impeachment proceedings but can only act on it if the house presents it before it. However the house cannot not impeach, they don’t have any input in the order to remove an individual from office. The senate has the authority to try, and remove the president from office.  

The senate review or screen the president’s appointees and have the constitutional power to either approve or reject any appointees.
