If the zoo has 2 male lions, and those 2 male lions make up [tex] \frac{1}{6} [/tex] of the total lions, then you do:

[tex]\frac{1}{6} [/tex] × total = 2
total ÷ 6 = 2
total = 2 × 6
total = 12.

The total number of lions = 12.

Let x be the number of animals in the zoo
Number of male lions in the zoo = 2
1/6(x) = 2
x/6 = 2
x = 12
There are 12 lions in the zoo in total.
