Pedro Álvares Cabral was a portuguese explorer that is credited with discovering Brazil. Even though Amerigo Vespucci, Diego de Lepe and Vincente Yánez all sailed across the coast of this country, it was Cabral the only one to reclaim it for his king and country. Thanks to him, Brazil is the only portuguese speaking country of South America.
Samuel de Champlain was also an explorer and a cartographer who established and subsequently governing the settlement of New France and the city of Quebec, now known as Canada.
