I believe the answer is: The ultimate goal of the criminal justice system in America is achieving crime control through due process.
Due process is being done in order to give the defendants with the right to defend themselves. This process exist to minimize misjudgement during trial, and only those who conduct the crime are the one that being punished. (even though there are still a lot of misjudgement happens in our modern-day court)
In the American legal system, guarantees of due process are found in the ultimate goal of the criminal justice system in America is achieving crime control through due process.
