In plants, water is stored inside a large central vacuole. This organelle also helps to support the cell. Imagine that one of your friends submerged a plant in salt water. They would notice that the leaves wilted due to the vacuoles collapsing. This condition is called plasmolysis. Which explanation do you think best describes what happens to the cells of that plant during plasmolysis?

Respuesta :

Plant submerged in the salt water is said to be in hyperosmotic solution. Hyperosmotic solution means the concentration of solute is higher around the cell. This condition is called as  hyperosmotic stress.

Water always moves from low solute to higher solute concentration medium. This leads to the sudden movement of water outside the cell(osmosis).
