A rectangle has a perimeter of 108 units. The length of the rectangle is 2x+8 units and the width is 3x + 4 units. Find the value of x, justify and check your solution.
the two lengths will be the same and the two widths the same (making up the four rectangle sides) this means 108= 3x+4, +3x+4, +2x+8, +2x+8 108=10x +24 (minus 24 from both sides) 84=10x so x= 8.4
