Organelles are specialized subunits within a cell that have specific functions. They are usually separately enclosed within their lipid bilayers.
Mitochondria- They have their own single-stranded DNA, which means they can self-replicate. They produce the "energy currency" of the cell, ATP. They do that through respiration, and do so in order to help regulate cell metabolism.
Lysosome- They are polymorphic organelles. Their function is to digest food in the cell, digest cell parts ( a process called autophagy, where it basically eats parts of itself, and re-makes itself from the inside out), and to break down extracellular matter ( again, when it's shedding, and re-modeling its tissue matter)
