Wayne went on a 4 kilometer hike. He took a break at 4/3 kilometers. He took a drink of water at 10/3 kilometers. Show Wayne's hike in the number line.

First change the improper fraction to a mixed number.4/3 change to 1 1/3 and 10/3 change to 3 1/3. Now put them at the number line.

At 1 1/3 km, Wayne took a break.

At 3 1/3 km, Wayne drank some water.

We can just graph his starting and ending points and his breaks on the number line.  Just make a number line with thirds (fractions), plot the appropriate points, and label them.  I have attached it below.
