The communists renamed Saigon "a. Ho Chi Minh City," since this had been the name of the former president of the region. This was during the Cold War.

The communists renamed Saigon as in Option A.

That city was also known as Saigon (its former name) is the most populous city in Vietnam located in southeast Vietnam, the metropolis surrounds the Saigon Rivers. When the city was named  Saigon, it was the capital of French Indochina from 1887 to 1902 and again from 1945 to 1954.  The communists renamed the city providing it the name of a former President of North Vietnam, although this name was not recognized outside official business.
