It is given in the question that

Surface of a square wall is paved with tiles. The total expenditure at the rate Rs 25 per sq.m is RS.1 76 400.

Let the side be of length s meter .

And area of square is

[tex] Area = s^2 [/tex]

So according to question ,

[tex] 25s^2 = 176400  [/tex]

Dividing both sides by 25

[tex] s^2 = 7056 [/tex]

Taking square root to both sides,

[tex] s = \sqrt{7056} \\ s =84 meter [/tex]

So the required side length is 84 meter .

Let the length of the side of the square wall = x meter

We know that area of the square [tex] = x^2 [/tex], where x is the side of the wall

Given that rate of expenditure for 1 square meter of the wall = 25 rupees

Then total expenditure on [tex] x^2 [/tex] meter of the wall [tex] = 25x^2 [/tex]

Given that total expenditure on the wall = 176400 rupees

Then both expressesions for the expenditure will be equal and we get equation:

[tex] 25x^2=176400[/tex]

[tex] x^2=\frac{176400}{25} [/tex]

[tex] x^2=7056 [/tex]

take square root of both sides

x=84

Hence final answer is 84 meter.
