A car traveling in a straight line has a velocity of 6.64 m/s at some instant. after 5.55 s, its velocity is 10.9 m/s. what is its average acceleration in this time interval?

Respuesta :

We calculate the average acceleration by formula,

[tex] a_{avg}= \frac{v_{i}-v_{f}}{\Delta t}\       [/tex]

Here vi  is initial velocity of the car and after given time its velocity becomes vf .

According to question,

[tex] v_{i} = 6.64 m/s, [/tex]

[tex] v_{f} = 10.9m/s [/tex],

[tex] \Delta t =5.55s [/tex]

Therefore, putting these values in above equation, we get

 a_{avg} = \frac{10.9 m/s - 6.64 m/s}{5.55 s}

[/tex][tex] a_{avg}= \frac{4.26 m/s }{5.55 s}

[/tex][tex] a_{avg} = 0.77 m/s^2  [/tex]}}

Thus, the average acceleration in given time interval is [tex]   0.77 m/s^2 [/tex]
