Confrontation heightens suspense when for example a character decides to not hold back anything and just ask the person of choice what he had been meaning to. This way, the character gets answers needed and the author heightens the suspense on the person asked, person question or another person in the novel.
Another example of confrontation heightening suspense is when in real life a mother asks her daughters teacher who is bullying her, and gets answers. She will in result heighten suspense on a few children in particular until she finds the one kid who is bullying her daughter.
