It’s TRUE that where a candidate is from is an important characteristic that affects voter’s choices during an election. Race, ethnicity, religion, gender, geography, and social background are also some of the important characteristics that affect the winning chance of a candidate.

Voters also look into a candidate’s personal characteristic such as honesty, compassion, leadership, morality, and competence.
