Biotechnology means to use technology, invention, or method on an organism. Which is what selective breeding is, it uses technology and methods to alter genes of organisms for human benefit.
Selective breeding is a type of biotechnology because humans created it so they pick and choose the genes of the offspring off a certain animal using DNA from certain cells of that animal that would be beneficial to that animals performance (such as creating bigger horses for carry weight)
