The European ideas greatly influence foreign cultures during the Colombian exchange through population, diseases, language and their discoveries of products or materials such as metals. They introduce food such as sugar, coffee, staple crops such as potatoes, cassava and maize. Also, they brought along spices like chili peppers and paprika; and fruits like tomatoes and pineapple. Moreover, their most important influence is the tobacco where it is used as a substitute for currency.
