William Stukeley was an antiquarian and proto-archeologist who wrote the first biography of Newton entitled" Memoirs of Sir Isaac Newton's Life". The two were born in Lincolnshire and talked, meeting regularly as they are both fellows of the Royal Society.

"Of Cannibals" was an essay written by Michel Eyquem de Montaigne and tackles the pompous belief of western culture superiority.
His indifference shows in :
• We ought rather to call those wild, whose natures we have changed by our artifice, and diverted from the common order.
• They are savages at the same rate that we say fruit are wild, which nature produces of herself and by her own ordinary progress.
• I am not sorry that we should here take notice of the barbarous horror of so cruel an action, but that, seeing so clearly into their faults, we should be so blind to our own.
