Jose Clemente Orozco was a Mexican muralist. He lived through the Mexican Revolution, the Great Depression and the rise of fascism in Europe, which made him acutely aware of political and social issues. One of his most famous works is the interior of the Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara, which he painted in 1939. In the center of this building, we find a cupola with a painting known as the Man of Fire. This has been called the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas."
