Hello!
Historical criticism will most likely take into account:
-The beliefs that were common during the period the text was written.
-Major political events that occurred when the text was written.
-The original audience for the text.
Why?
Historical criticism tries to understand the historical context behind a text, how the people of that time would think, how would they understand the message and what was the original intention of the author.
For studying that, historical factors should be studied. In the list, the suspenseful tone of the text and whether the text is popular with today's readers are not factors related to the historical context of the text.
Have a nice day!
Historical criticism considered beliefs that were common during the period the text was written, political events that occurred when the text was written, and the original audience for the text.
The factors are as follows:
- The cultural and traditional beliefs provided information about the thinking process and values of historic people.
- Historical events always look into the original background information of any context to get good knowledge without any misconceived assumptions or are biased.
- Political events describe the historical events and the actions taken at that time.
Therefore, all these factors provide authentic knowledge to study today.
