Horses and zebras can be bred to produce a zorse, which is sterile. Which is most likely the reason zebras and horses are considered separate species

Likely, the reason is because of the stripes but there are actually different types of zebras too. The two belong to the same family but a zebra has its own species. The two do belong to the Equidae family though. Look up “Equidae Family”.
