Thomas Jefferson wanted to pay off debt & Alexander Hamilton Didn't.
Alexander Hamilton was not bothered by national debt, he views loans from Europe at 4% an advantage that could give the country a break for a few years and would give a chance to the economy develop. He wanted to handle national debt by selling government bonds to fund the debt.
Thomas Jefferson on the other way abhorred national debt and defended that it should be paid off at any cost, he believed that national debt would lead to war and economic crisis. He handled national debt by cut spending and applied all savings to pay the debt. It was the first time and only the US had all national debt paid.
