Why was the new deal initiated? what problems did it address? what were some possible unintended consequences of the new deal? did the new deal solve the problems it was designed to solve? do you believe the legacy of the new deal is a positive or negative?

Respuesta :

The New Deal was a set of programs implemented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in order to help America escape the Great Depression. He had several different goals in implementing these policies, including:

1) Reforming the banking industry.
2) Providing economic relief for individuals who were unemployed, elderly, and families with a low income.
3) Creating job opportunities by developing different federal agencies. These agencies would work on a variety of different projects, including building America's infrastructure.

The New Deal had some success, as it did decrease the unemployment rate and provided economic assistance to millions of American citizens. Most historians would consider the New Deal successful, as it developed different federal agencies we have still today. This includes the Social Security Administration, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
