A kid initially has 7.6 dollars and is given 0.2 dollars every weekend. The slope here is the 0.2. This is the value or increment in which the money is increasing. The y-intercept is the value we obtain from the equation when we set x to zero. Similarly speaking, this is the original value which is 7.6.

I believe you're supposed to come up with a formula for the amount of money the kid has after x weeks.  Surely sounds like a linear function.  The initial value is $7.60 and the slope is $0.20/week.  Thus, the function is

money accumulated = $7.60 + ($0.20/week)x   ... where x is the # of weeks that have gone by.
