Johnson on 6th August 1965  during the civil rights movement.  The act laid emphasis on the prohibition of racial prejudice during voting. Around two hundred thousand African Americans registered out of which one-third was registered by the federal examiner and by 1967 the majority of the  African Americans got registered for Voting.
