Firstly so we don't make the same mistakes that we made in the past. We use history to understand how the world worked in the past and how it works now. Lastly our world has bore witness to countless important events that have changed the world. We have to dive into the depths of the history books to know and understand why certain events happened. If we didn't have history no one would learn from the mistakes of the past and would more than likely repeat them.
