Is that supposed to by y = x^2 + 5x -6? If so, that is a quadratic which is also known as a parabola, and parabolas have only one max value or one min value, depending upon if it is positive or negative. A positive parabola has a positive leading coefficient, and a negative parabola has a negative leading coefficient. A positive parabola has a min where a negative parabola has a max.
