Prior to the discovery and elaboration of Copernicus with the theory of heliocentricism, which states that the sun is the center of the universe and that the planets orbit around it in a circular manner. The theory of geocentrism was first published by another astronomer and philosopher, Ptolemy. As a custom in the early years of the society, people already stood for the idea that the earth is the center of the universe which is easy to believe at that time given that their perspective shows that the sun moves when observed from earth's atmosphere.
Because the theory of Heliocentrism is contrary to the theory of Geocentrism which places the Sun as the center of the solar system. In contemporary science, we can know that the sun is the core or axis of the Milky Way galaxy. And there are many other galaxies that are millions of light-years away from the Milky Way.

In astronomy, heliocentrism is an astronomical model in which the earth surrounds the sun at the center of the solar system. The word comes from the Greek (Helios = Sun, and kentron = center). Historically, heliocentrism is opposed to geocentrism, which places the Earth at the center of the universe.
Geocentric theory put forward by several philosophers such as Amaximandaros, Aristotle, Hipparchus, and at its peak Ptolomeus made maps of celestial objects in the Almagest book known as the Geocentric model or Ptolemic System (Taken from the name Ptolomeus).
Until now, these theories are still unable to determine the basis of our astronomy. Each theory still has advantages and disadvantages that can influence the development of the theory going forward. For the time being, the theory we use is the Heliocentric Theory. But for the future, we will not know-how.
The solar system is the arrangement of celestial bodies that revolve around the sun at its center. The celestial bodies consist of 8 planets with elliptical orbits, natural satellites, comets, asteroids, and meteoroids. The planets are always moving around the sun due to the influence of the sun's gravitational force.
Scientists divide 8 planets in the solar system into groups based on various factors that are owned by each planet. The following are three planetary arrangements or sequences made by astronomers:
- First, grouping based on the position of planets viewed from Earth's orbit can be divided into inferior planets and superior outer planets. Inferior planets are planets located in Earth's orbit, namely Mercury and Venus. Meanwhile, superior planets are planets that are outside the orbit of the earth, namely the planets Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
- Second, the grouping is based on its constituent materials which can be divided into 2, namely terrestrial planets and jovian planets. Terrestrial planets are planets with a relatively small size, rocky, and have a thin atmosphere. The combined planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Meanwhile, the rest includes the Jovian planet. Namely planets with surfaces composed of gas, liquid, thick ice, and relatively large size.
- Third, the grouping is based on its location as seen from the asteroid's orbit. Planets can be divided into outer planets and inner planets. Inner planets are planets that are in the asteroid's orbit, namely Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. While the rest including the outer planets.
