Laura inherits $35,000 and decides to invest part of it in a education account for her daughter and the rest in a 10 year CD. if the amount she puts in the education fund is $11,000 more than twice the amount she puts I the CD, how much money does Laura invest in each account?

we know that
x+y=35000------> x=35000-y-----> equation 1
x=11000+2y-----> equation 2

equate equation 1 and equation 2

35000-y=11000+2y
2y+y=35000-11000
3y=24000
y=8000
x=35000-y------> x=35000-8000-------> x=27000
therefore

the answer is
the amount in the education fund is $27000
the amount in the CD is $8000
