This illustrates the authors viewpoint because it is saying that he wishes he could have done more with his time. Seeing The lines in the play and/or hearing it it seems as if he wishes he had done more to make himself and the other around him happier. Some people wish they could go back in time to make more time for themselves and i believe that is what he would've liked as well.
