cos(50) = 14 / x

x = 14 / cos50

x = 21.78 feet

 The problem doesn't say if the answer should be rounded or not. You may have to round the answer if needed.

The angle of depression is congruent to your angle of elevation (the squirrel's line of sight. These are opposite angles. You use SOH CAH TOA to find the missing information because this forms a right triangle. SO you are really trying to solve for the hypotenuse here. 
You are given the  "side" opposite the angle. souse the SOH part Sine=opposite/hypotenuse
so when you plug in the information you get this equation:
sin(50)=14/x
divide both sides by sin(50) and you should get 
a hypotenuse of approx. 18.3
