When referring to a source of information in an essay using the Chicago style, you should cite the surname of the author and the date that he or she or them (if there are many authors) published the information. The name and date of publication should be given wholly or partly in round brackets. The surname should be written first followed by the year of publication. In case you want to be more specific, include page number, chapter and paragraph or section numbers, each of them separated by commas.
