The social change and social movements that I find most compelling is the resource mobilization theory. This entails the capacity of a social movement to acquire resources and mobilize individuals to achieve goals and take advantage of political opportunities. This theory can be useful in understanding why some movements are successful in achieving change while others die out without achieving much. The success of the Arab Spring was for instance dependent on harnessing the power of the people including prominent political and religious figures.
