The health care system in Canada is referred to as a single-payer health care system, and is a system in which the government provides national health insurance to all residents. This health care system is financed through taxes that provide health care to all of the Canadian population. Because everything is financed and covered through one (single) public system, the health care system received its name as the single-payer health care system.
