Answer:

The correct answer to the question: The Roman Republic was able to expand because..., is, A: Its political stability.

Explanation:

Rome, as a civilization, has been in existence, at least as it has been so far discovered by historians, since 753 BCE. And it was after a period of 7 ruling Roman Kings, due to the last king having been a tyrannt, that Rome evolved from a kingdom, to a Republic. This change happened for two reasons: rebellion from the people who became tired of tyranny, and the intervention of the Etruscans. Around 509 and till 264 BCE, Rome became a Republic led by two Consuls and a Senate, who were responsible for government and management, with the input from the people. It was during this long period, that in truth was not politically very stable, as there were a lot of confrontations between the Patricians and the Plebeians, that Rome initiated its expansion first over the Italian Peninsula, and later towards Carthage, in North Africa. Later on, they began to move further away, until they had conquered Greece, Syria, Macedonia, and Egypt, among many others. The Romans established then a rule through provinces and governors, thus ensuring Roman control, without having to spend all of Rome´s resources to maintain the now forming empire.
