Within the limbic system, emotion is controlled by the amygdala and hypothalamus.
Amygdala is an almond-shaped structure which is located deep within the temporal lobes and related with a number of emotional processes like love, fear, anger and sexual desire. It has been shown that damage to the amygdala can result in abnormal emotional responses.
Hypothalamus is also a part of the limbic system that acts as a regulator of emotion, controlling levels of sexual desire, pleasure, aggression and anger.
